“Bri was our Crowdfunding Producer for the short film Shroomery. Not only was she very knowledgeable and communicative about the process, she also created organized to-do lists that simplified the process for us as we went through crowdfunding and pre-production simultaneously. Would highly recommend her valuable expertise for anyone looking to crowdfund for their next project.”

-Alexandra Hsie, Producer

  • Is my story viable to produce in the first place?
  • Is my script formatted for production?
  • Is it possible to align my vision with my budget?

As a multi-time produced, award-winning indie film writer & director, I’ll ensure when making concessions for budgetary considerations, your story won’t feel cheap. Realistic doesn’t have to mean soulless and simplistic!

  • Is the idea of marketing your short film intimidating?
  • Do you struggle expressing your passion to convince others to share it?
  • Do you wish marketing felt more like movie making?

Once your film is made… what comes next? Let’s discuss how to put your project into the world and think more creatively about the ways in which you talk about and market your project so you don’t feel like a sellout. We’ll use your strengths and actual passions and interests to align the distribution phase of your indie project to why we’re here in the first place: talking about work that you loved making and ensuring people get to see it.

  • How do you spot red flags on FilmFreeway?
  • How do you make sure you’re not throwing submission money into the void?
  • How can your festival strategy meaningfully progress your goals?

Film festivals can be a springboard for networking, securing audience and distribution for your project, and help ensure you’re meeting your filmmaking career goals. However, it’s easy to get waylaid by scams, clout chasing, and false starts, so let’s get aligned and make sure your festival run is a success.

I have a BA in Creative Writing from Pacific University, an MFA in Writing and Producing for Television from LIU-Brooklyn, and several screenplay competition accolades under my belt (see some of my work and said accolades here!). I’ve also been an adjunct professor and thesis advisor for two graduate screenwriting programs and taught screenwriting and indie film courses for programs at ViacomCBS and WhoHaHa. Need notes on your script? Look no further!

Testimonials

Bri gave an engaging, thought provoking and entertaining class on crowdfunding – with evidence to back up her process, thoughts and methods. She demystified a very taboo topic and turned the idea of raising money for a project you love, achievable.

I attended Bri Castelini’s Mr. Potato Pitch class, and it was brilliant and simple to follow! With downloadable worksheets that helped me follow along, it made pitching my material feel less scary!
